Immigration

January 7 2009

In the past I've had those days too: days I bump against the same subject over and over again.

The day before yesterday I watched a program on TV about medical aid for immigrants. I was in tears when watching not only the facility itself, bit also how the doctors had to deal with limited means.
It looked worse than a clinic in africa 50 years ago.
What a shame for a society which calls itself modern.

Yesterday the news told about a family which was about to be split up, unless the father of two children and the husband of a lovely wife would find a job lasting at least a year within 3 weeks.
Man and woman clearly loved each other and the children. One was from a former relationship of the mother, and one was born just 4 months ago.
No one seemed to care.
What a shame that a society which emphasizes that a good, loving and stable home is the best we can offer our children, splits up a marriage just because one of the two used to live 4 years ago in another country.

Now Obama will be president soon, quite some people are making plans to return to the USA. Either one of them or both born there.
From a human perspective it should be easy to go back, join the extended family again and apply for a job, but it doesn't work like that.

There are many laws protecting a country and you really need an immigration lawyer to help you to become a permanent citizen again.

Good luck!
