Scrumptious Sunday

october 5 2008

Theme for Scrumptious Sunday:

We have a national dish here and the children love it.

It's called hutspot and it's the only carrotmash I know.

Cook potatoes together with an equal volume of carrots and 2 or 3 unions.
A bit of salt and a pinch of white pepper.

Mash it when all is soft.

I know, it's terribly easy.
Little children love it and grown up too.

Has anyone a different recipe for carrotmash?

  1. We have a similar dish in Wales (called "potch"), the difference being it also has swede (rutabaga) in it - but not as much of it as the main ingredients. Probably equal carrots and mashed potato and half the amount of swede - yum! Thanks for stopping by yesterday ;o)
