Mom, I'm bored!

june 4 2008 it's the "Mom, I'm bored!"-edition of Works for Me.

As a mom of 6 I've heard "Mom, I'm bored!", so many times that I can write a book about all sorts of answers I've given them throughout the years.

Ofcourse I had them watch TV, read, stir a salad, clean their room, but the most favorite activity that conquered boredom at all ages was.......

Finding material to turn yourself into a real artist.

Empty plastic mugs, broken pens, old combs, buttons, pieces of fabric, old wallpaper,
they've found it and brought it to the large table, where I'd spread enourmous pieces of paper (old calendars from the shops nearby or old thick wallpaper) and glue, tape and even elastics and paint.

Forcing phantasy into action isn't difficult.

Just take some clay and stick junk in it to create a man, a tree, an alien monster (the last always worked out best for me.LOL!).

They saw...they could do it better.
Even when they were 18!

So: it works for me.

I'm sure it'll work for you too.

  1. In this bored time you should sleep or need to go out for getting tired. Then you can feel good and fresh when you return home frm out.

  2. First time I've seen your blog, and I love it! You have quite the handful at your house. My kids (3) are simply not allowed to say they are bored—if they're bored, there's always laundry to sort, fold and socks to match up! I agree, found art is the most fun to work on, and good for the budget too. If you want to enter a contest for a stamping kit, check out #222 on Works for Me Wednesday!
